My Story
Welcome and thanks for visiting. The photo above was taken at my former home. I lived right on "Barefoot Beach" when I lived in the Cayman Islands. I was hired at a beautiful resort to coach voice and offer daily stress management through mindfulness meditation. Life wasn't always like that...
I have had my share of challenges. In fact, I share some of the same trials you may have faced.
From a young age, I struggled with depression and anxiety before people even mentioned those words in public. My lack of confidence and hope for the future ran my life. I was barely surviving, knew I had to change but had no idea how. I felt damaged and completely alone.
On the outside, I presented as "normal," but in reality, I was holding on for dear life, always wondering what I had done wrong. As a professional singer from a young age, my voice was exhausted and burned out. I was beyond frustrated! I needed frequent breaks, losing weeks of performing, significant income and damaging my reputation.
I tried and failed to figure it out. Nothing seemed to help.
Music saved my life.
My father was a jazz drummer; my mother was tone-deaf, but love of music was something they both shared.
They signed me up for one voice lesson. It wasn’t painful. Soon thereafter, I lived for my monthly lessons, which became a respite from troubles. I sang jazz along with my dad's band - The American Songbook, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan. This language, I understood! Slowly, cautiously, my rock-bottom self-esteem began morphing into solid purpose - I found and developed something I was good at. Finally, a reason to keep going.
Life became more interesting. I had the great fortune of studying with master teachers and skilled vocal technicians whose students performed on Broadway, at The Met, and friends who worked with household-name pop singers.
I signed with a record label and got radio play. I sang a regular gig at a world-renowned jazz club in NYC and performed at jazz venues in Portugal, Paris, Los Angeles and New England. I was invited to sing the national anthem at Fenway Park and Dodger Stadium. I acted in off-Broadway productions, independent film and national commercials. I taught acting, creative writing, and vocal master classes.
I was hired to speak about vocal wellness and stress management at non-profit organizations, healthcare facilities, Caribbean resorts, retreats and workshops.
I even got to appear on Good Morning America. How fun!
My voice is my life. Your voice is my mission. It lights me up to discover, empower you and uplevel your vocal d.
Your voice is more than "just" singing. I've experienced over and over when you use your voice and accentuate your uniqueness flows into your life. As your voice gains power and flexibility, you may find yourself more easily able to advocate for yourself, speak your truth, set healthy boundaries and discover yourself in ways you couldn't have imagined.
